Spyder VS2

The Spyder VS2 is an excellent mid-range model with some exciting high range features despite the meager price. The Spyder VS2 includes some nice additions over the Spyder VS1, without the price-tag of the Spyder VS3. Compared to the VS3, my only complaint is the trigger on the VS2. Still, the VS2 is a great paintball gun with a number of top features.

VS2 Technology

The Spyder VS2 joins the VS3 in having the 3G Balance Valve technology, which Kingman has heralded as a sharp improvement over previous Spyder models and most paintball guns on the market today.

VS2 Barrel

The Spyder VS2 has an very nice 12 inch barrel that comes in two pieces. The barrel is a micro-honed ported barrel with twist-lock clamping feed neck. The VS2 barrel is two inches longer than the VS1 and the same size as the VS3.

VS2 Trigger

The VS2 comes with a 3-way adjustable infinity trigger, which appears better than the 3-way adjustable two finger trigger that comes with the VS1, but not nearly as good as the impressive 4-way adjustable rocking trigger on the VS3. This appears to be the VS2′s main weakness compared to higher-end models like the VS3. The ease of the rocking trigger on the Spyder VS3 makes shooting even more fun than it already was, and without that rocking trigger, the VS2 doesn’t have the same top-of-the-line feel. Still, the trigger is smooth and good quality, and certainly won’t disappoint if you don’t mind not having the rocking trigger.

VS2 Trigger Modes

The VS2 comes with with a nice variety of available modes. These modes are available on all Spyder VS models. The trigger modes include semi-automatic Eyes on, semi-automatic Eyes off, and 3 Burst.

VS2 Shooting Speed

The VS2 shoots at a rate of 25 paintballs per second. Compare that to the VS1′s 20 paintballs per second, and the VS3′s 30 paintballs per second. Thus, the VS2 has a good speed, since only very experienced players can exceed 25 paintballs per second when the gun is in semi-automatic mode. For most players, this speed with be plenty.

VS2 Air Use

Unlike the Spyder VS1, the VS2 does not operate on CO2. Instead, the VS2 uses only compressed air. Since compressed air is far superior to CO2s, this is not a problem for most paintball players.

Price

The retail price for the VS2 is $249.95, but you can find it for much cheaper here.

Conclusion

The Spyder VS2 is a terrific paintball gun. It provides speedball players with superior features using state-of-the-art technology. It is considered moderately high-end in all the major categories except one, the trigger, which doesn’t have the rocking trigger used on the Spyder VS3. Still, for the price, the VS2 provides excellent value and is a good paintball gun for someone beyond “beginner” level who isn’t competing to be a paid professional paintball player.
